March 6 – Day 65 – Stroke free & Dancing
I can’t dance. I readily admit it. Last night found me at The Stampede in Aurora for some basic country dancing lessons. I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t like country music when I was younger but I’ve found myself loving it more and more as times has gone on. So last night I learned to dance. The person I was learning with didn’t (and as of yet doesn’t) know about my stroke and the fact that my left side moves a little more awkward than the right. I didn’t give that excuse as evidence of why my left leg doesn’t work as much as I’d like it to and I kept working through it.
It was fun. I watched some very talented guys and gals dance across the floor in impressive manner. I realized that I wanted to learn how to dance. I wanted to move that like. I decided that I was going to work at this. If nothing else, I’ll be able to break it down at the impending Brother Wedding in 2011. It also will get me out of the house.
A amusing side story from last night you might find hilarious or horrifying. I was sitting at our table as she was out dancing with her regular partners because she’s got more talent in the heel of her boots than I do in my whole body. As I sat enjoying watching people dance and the music was washing over my work-burnt soul, I saw out of the corner of my eyes a gaggle of girls dressed up in what looked like a party.
Feb 15 – Day 46 – Road to Ignite Denver
The countdown to Ignite Denver is on and I’m sharing how I’m preparing. Rock on.
Feb 14 – Day 45 – Happy Heart Day
Now onto the review of AVATAR or as I’d like to call it, “James Cameron’s version of every other movie in the world”. I’m going to be honest and brutal in the next few paragraphs so strap in it’s going to be a very open and bumpy ride. I’m justifying my honesty because I did a film class in high school where we actually made a movie & I’m pretty sure I qualify as a nearly graduated Padawan Movie Geek.

Feb 10th – Day 41 – Time To Ignite
This project’s been simmering below the level for the last month and change but now that simmering will slowly roil to a boil and steam up some glasses. On March 2nd 2010 Ignite Denver opens their sixth session. Several topics have been submitted and these evening I threw my hat in the ring with my presentation entitled, “Cain and Able 2: Die Harder”.
Jan 21 – Day 21 – Up and Out
I saw the film “Up in the Air” yesterday and it was exactly what I needed on a lazy Wednesday afternoon. The movie stars George Clooney as a corporate termination terminator who is always flying from one corner of the states to the other firing people for companies that don’t wish to burden themselves with the complicated and delicate process of letting someone go from their employ.
Jan 2nd – Day 2 – Keeping Pace
I love weekends. This weekend is a bit of a bittersweet moment because after being on vacation for nearly two weeks I’m dreading the return to work. I’m a glutton for punishment so I’ve been checking my email. Bad idea. I fear that when I return I’m going to need roller skates to get everything done that needs doing. I’ll survive to see another day. Work isn’t the end of the world or me but it’ll definitely push me to the limits in the New Year. I’ve struggled how to balance and work with the stress that the job throws down on my shoulders and I’ll admit that on more than one occasion I’ve failed miserably. Handling stress and the load of work that presents itself is both a struggle and a blessing. Without all that I’d never learn. I’d rather learn by dealing than having a job without challenge.
